When traditional Korean folk artists were asked to make paintings, it was for an intentional purpose- a birthday celebration, a wedding, the new year, a seasonal festival or a shamanistic ritual.
I made these "Apothecary" paintings to bring an auspicious, protective or loving, harmonious energy spirit to you. What it brings you depends on how you see it and what it means to you. It brings me great happiness to know that my paintings are being enjoyed. It is exciting to cross pollenate the history of oil painting with my east Asian heritage. |
